Hard Fought Weekend For The Ladies and a Huge Result for the Mens 1st XI

Our Ladies 1st XI went up against league rivals Worcester 3rd XI this weekend, with both teams starting the weekend on 21 points this was going to be a well fought, tight game. COB started strongly but Worcester were the first to strike in the first half, with COB quickly getting a goal back. The game went back and forth for most of the second half, but with two goals in quick succession Worcester grew a lead of 5-2. Despite this the Ladies kept fighting, especially on the counter which led to a weaving run by L.Davis into the Worcester D and scoring a great goal. 5-3 at the end.

Our Mens 1st XI had a huge away game to 10th placed Olton. this game being decisive in the battle against relegation this season. With a squad that knew it could step up from previous results the Mens 1st XI played exceptionally. N.Zaman scoring his third of the season followed by a goal by J.Chagger saw COB secure the win in this crucial match, with the game ending with a 2-0 win and high spirits, this pushes the Mens 1st XI above Olton and away from safety, Next week we face Bournville 2nd XI for another huge game as Bournville sit just above COB in the league, a win next week would be another huge step to safety.

Our Mens 2nd XI faced Hampton-In-Arden and played brilliantly for the first ten minutes. Breaking up of any home team attack was quick and decisive. COBs attack was a threat, but the Hampton keeper was in top form. With a spell of COB injuries Hampton got two breakaway goals. M.Kong was brilliant in goal unfortunately he couldn’t stop the breakaway goals. The home team put COBHC under constant pressure for the remaining 15 minutes of the half but the defence stood firm. Second half things improved, Fifteen minutes in to the second half COB got a great second goal. A Fantastic long ball just inside Hampton’s half by R.Stan, it found A.Truelove on the back post, who shot through the keeper’s legs hitting both feet ricocheted in for his first goal of the league season. The game ending 2-1 to Hampton.

Our Ladies 2nd XI had a very busy weekend this week with two games, one on Saturday and one on the Sunday. First facing forth in the league Redditch 2nd XI, with a lot of new faces and limited numbers, this, and the next game would prove tricky. Despite this our Ladies 2nd XI worked hard and pushed throughout to get a result, unfortunatly Redditch proved too strong and a COB goal wasn't enough with an 11-1 defeat. The next game agasint Worcester 4th XI would be equally challenging with limited numbers COB did score, but in the end lost 6-1 to Worcester. Our Ladies 2nd XI put in an excellent effort for both games, with tired legs can be proud of their perfomances over the two games.
