Who are we?

City of Birmingham Hockey Club was established on Tuesday 11th June 2019. As with the birth of any new club, a club crest was a crucial part of the process to give the club unique identity. Subsequently, the creation of the new club badge was designed by its members and published on Friday 14th June 2019, incorporating the iconic bull of Birmingham.

The current City of Birmingham Hockey Club is comprised of three ladies team who have all united due to the love of the game. A large proportion of our ladies have already played together for a season and have shared a great amount of success, topping the Warwickshire Women's Hockey League as Champions in the 2018/19 season in style. They also saw success by being nominated as 'Team of the Year' at the England Hockey Awards 2019, as well as success in the Tier 4 English Cup where they played in the final at Lee Valley. The squad jointly decided that forming a new club was an exciting adventure and one of which allowed their success to continue. We have been excited at the influx of new members to the club and are keen to spread the support and success across all sections.

The future of the club looks bright with strong established links with Birmingham City University women's hockey section, with a large proportion of club members are BCU students or alumni.

The 2020/21 season cements the merger between Yardley Hockey Club and the current City of Birmingham Hockey Club to create the mens section of the club, with Yardley HC officially adopting the same club name under the CoBHC crest. Going forward this will faciitate the promotion and progression of the men's section, as well as a junior section. We are very excited at this step forward whilst still honouring the strong history the men bring with them. Read more about it here
